Jesus had claimed that he was the Good Shepherd and that the sheep (Jews) knew their master and so prophesied that Paul would fail to mislead them. They would not follow the thief who would climb into the sheep pen other than through its gate (i.e. Jesus’ teachings). The thief would be from the Pharisees who would come to steal and destroy his followers. This was Paul the Pharisee who for about one decade had been an open and sworn enemy of Jesus and who admitted murdering Jesus’ followers.

Jesus also prophesied that these secret Pharisee conspiracies would all be exposed. This occurred when Paul’s hypocrisy and the falsehood of his doctrines, including abrogating Moses’ law, were exposed when Paul, under order of James, underwent Nazirite purification as an act of repentance for his third journey epistles which include Corinthians, Romans and Galatians. James only knew one of his corruption doctrines – Abrogation of the law – and yet required him to repent:

Act 21:21-26 NKJV  ...they said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of them that have believed; and they are all zealous for the law:21 and they have been informed concerning thee, but they have been informed about you that you teach all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise [their] children nor to walk according to the customs. 22 "What then? The assembly must certainly meet, for they will hear that you have come. 23 "Therefore do what we tell you: We have four men who have taken a vow. 24 "Take them and be purified with them, and pay their expenses so that they may shave [their] heads, and that all may know that those things of which they were informed concerning you are nothing, but [that] you yourself also walk orderly and keep the law…

The key point is James' statement that many of the Jews of them that have believed in Jesus, and who are zealous for the law, have heard that you teach all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise [their] children nor to walk according to the customs. This shows us that Jesus' followers even twenty years after the crucifixion were still using Mosaic law zealously as their means of salvation.

Paul subsequently followed James' command and underwent the Nazirite purification rituals in which he repented ostensibly of preaching that Moses' law was to be forsaken (Acts 21:26). This shows us that Paul did not hold sincerely to his beliefs and that the major apostles like James did not believe in the idea of a New Covenant replacing Mosaic law as the means for salvation.

The above implicitly negates his claims including that he was appointed as an apostle by Jesus of any kind since he failed to communicate to James that his teachings were revealed, choosing instead to repent of the very teachings he claimed Jesus had taught him.

Paul mobbed in the Temple by Jesus' followers

Before completion of the rituals however, Jesus Jews - not orthodox Jews - from Corinth and Ephesus (Galatia) whom James warned him of, and who previously rebelled against Paul’s doctrines, saw him in the Temple. They rioted, raising a hew and cry that Paul was the person who spoke against Israel, the law and the Temple, and was therefore defiling the Temple with his presence:

Acts 21:27-29 ASV  And when the seven days were almost completed, the Jews from Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the multitude and laid hands on him,28 crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man that teacheth all men everywhere against the people, and the law, and this place; and moreover he brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath defiled this holy place.29 For they had before seen with him in the city Trophimus the Ephesian, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple...

The reference to all men everywhere indicates that his preaching was infamous and related to Jews and gentiles. The reference against the people...the law...and this place, refers respectively, to the Jews because he promoted the gentiles, but denigrated Moses and Israel, Moses’ Law and the Jerusalem Temple. Substantially these were the same three charges the Pharisees had brought against Jesus and Stephen.

After this point, Paul was arrested by the Romans, incarcerated and remained so until he was executed, the root cause of which ultimately can be traced to the doctrines that Paul sought to sow into Jesus’ movement.

Was Paul an Apostle to the Gentiles?

To further placate the Jesus Jews, Paul then related his conversion vision—which clearly was the first time the Jesus Jews were hearing this. They listened patiently, until Paul related that Jesus appointed him to expand his (Jesus’) mission to the gentiles. From this they immediately realised that Paul was false and a Pharisee plant and cried out against him:

Act 22:21-22 NKJV "Then He said to me, 'Depart, for I will send you far from here to the Gentiles.' " And they listened to him until this word, and [then] they raised their voices and said, "Away with such a [fellow] from the earth, for he is not fit to live!"

This event proves several points. Firstly: that Paul’s conversion story was not known to Jesus’ disciples and they knew nothing of his so-called appointment to the Gentiles until this moment and; secondly, that the Great Commission we find mention in Matthew's Gospel and in Paul's epistle Romans, was concoction, since the community of Jesus did not believe that Jesus' message was for the gentiles. This statement of his thus exposed him as a plant, which is why the Jesus Jews rioted on hearing those words. They knew that Jesus' mission was exclusively to the Israelites.

Paul’s conversion story was likely concocted during Paul’s third journey. The Romans arrested Paul because of the riot, after which he disclosed that he was a Roman citizen.  He was using his Roman citizenship for protection—which is why the Pharisees chose him.
